Limington Farm
Limington, ME – The Limington Farm was our first true client case as a team. Though we’ve had plenty since then, we’ve opted to leave most off camera due to sensitivity, so this was truly an insightful experience to review as part of the Haunt ME series. Additionally, this was our first potentially ‘dangerous’ case, based on the homeowner’s claims, making it even more important to gain an understanding of what was going on inside.
The homeowners are friends of Carol’s family, so she grew up hearing ghost stories about the old farmhouse, but both of the owners never wanted to antagonize the entity inside and instead just gave it what it wanted and moved along. Seeming to emanate from one bedroom on the upper level, reports of objects moving on their own and dark shadows soon escalated to injury, which the team took with a great deal of seriousness.
Carol’s mother joined the team with her fellow investigator and friend, Deb Rossie, to reunite Ty and Carol with their former paranormal team. With this team split, one group would search the building while the other canvassed the property. Again, the haunting follows the Saco River (a river with its own legends) and creates worries of a heightened haunt and a family looking for help.
Attitudes were heightened as something strange moved through the house; an energy that caused the investigators to grade on each other as the night drew on. Cameras were set at every level, and the investigators each had recorders again to make sure every angle of the investigation was covered, and it wasn’t long before the spirit that resides upstairs made its intentions known and wanted the group to leave, but they pressed forward. Capturing a convincing EVP in the master bedroom, as well as Ty and Ash being stricken with an overwhelming sickness, Carol rose to the occasion to face off against the entity and protect her friends. Additionally, K-II meters were off the charts in the kitchen, and the team struggled to find the source.
At the time of its release, this was easily rated as Haunt ME’s most intense investigation yet. Whatever was in this space was intelligent, territorial, and not well understood, and it was for these reasons that Haunt ME contacted the farm’s newest homeowners a few years later to conduct a follow up and see if these new residents had any aggressive experiences of their own. Spoiler: they had.
Night two: Season 4
The new owners of this farm house had been experiencing strange things in their house, and then they found our show. Shocked to find out that they had purchased a haunted house, and a weird one at that, they invited us back to investigate what had changed and provide them with information about how to best handle the haunting. With one of the goals being ‘helping the living’, the Haunt ME team invited Grant Wilson from Syfy’s ‘Ghost Hunters’ to skype in and leverage his experience.
Now with 3 more years of paranormal investigative experience under them, the team returned with new techniques, tools, and mindset. This meant it was time to debunk what they couldn’t understand the first time; time for debunking! From the light anomaly in the master bed room, to the new homeowners having the same experience in what was ‘Larry’s bedroom’ being the epicenter of the dark haunting.
One of the highlights of this night was the team splitting up to tackle the light phenomena. With Carol watching IR, Ash in the ‘portal’ room, and Ty and Katie driving around to try to find unique ways for light to shine through into the room. And we did it! A car backing up in the drive was very close to what the team caught on IR during their first visit, and that was a major win. What the team couldn’t explain away, however, was the experiences in ‘Larry’s former bedroom’, which remained as bizarre and uncomfortable as ever. With this, the team worked together to provide the current homeowners with as much information and reassurance as they could provide, as well as tactics to live comfortably alongside what may be inhabiting the house.
