West Baldwin School House
West Baldwin, ME – We wanted another smaller place for this haunt, even though the EVP contamination would be an issue again. Currently an art studio, the building had historically been a school house. The current owner told us stories about being watched, sensed animosity, and spoke of a spirit called Bat Girl. This combined with the proximity to a cemetery (which were still very mystified to us) definitely encouraged us to go.
Our main focus of the night was to try to debunk as much as we could. Armed with a heavy infrared camera strapped to Ty’s head so you could see what he was looking at, and K-II meters the team was able to find wiring giving off heavy electrical contamination that might have been triggering the owner’s feeling of being watched.
With little happening by the way of paranormal evidence though, the team tried to mix up their tactics and completed solitary rotations for the first time. Still, with no experiences after an hour alone, the team decided to attempt the opposite approach and come together as a group. This group session was focused on the ‘bat girl’ spirit and attempted to recreate a school session for her. With this tactic, a bit of bumps and knocks occurred from the hot spots the owner identified. This started to both unnerve and excite the team, but they stayed with their questioning, wondering if the spirit that had been absent all night was showing up as questioning turned to whether the entity wanted Haunt ME to leave. Upon this line of questioning, the K-II blinked green answering the affirmative, frightening the young team a bit and prompting them to exit out of respect for the spirit.
The team has since come far from a solitary green light scaring them off, but back then, it was a solid start toward true interaction with the unknown.
